Stuffed Animal Shoot
I was asked to take some photos of a cousin’s child as a gift for the daddy for Valentine’s Day so I went out and bought a plain sheet to use for a backdrop. We recently moved and I have the perfect spot in my office/dining room to use as a type of studio. I just nailed the sheet to the wall that I’d be using for the background and moved my kitchen table over to use for her child to sit on. The sheet was long enough that it covered the table perfectly.
Since I’m used to only taking candid type shots and not many portraits or ’staged’ shots, I set up a few of my son’s stuffed animals that we’ll be using for the shoot to practice with. My goal was to adjust lighting and settings on my camera so that we she arrives tomorrow, we can get her daughter set up and ready to go quickly. This way she won’t have a chance to get bored.
I know I still have some work to do with the settings and things but I thought this was so cute! My son ended up jumping up on the table to have his picture taken. Though most of his didn’t turn out to good either, I was able to get some adorable ones of him that I’ll be keeping.
In the end, I did get my settings for my camera in the best position and I’m ready to go for the shoot. My natural lighting will be much better because we’ll be shooting in the morning and there will be less direct sunlight coming in through my windows. That was part of my issue today. I’m excited to get some practice shooting kids and in a ’studio’ type setting.
