My name is Jenera Healy. I am happily married and we have two children-two boys. I currently live in Caldwell, Idaho. I consider myself an amateur photographer but hope to change that as times goes on.
I first picked up a camera in the spring of 2007. Since that time I have been unable to put it down and love looking for new and unusual angles.
My first camera was a 1980’s Canon EOS 650. I purchased it used for $50 at a pawn shop. After a few months, and gentle prodding from my husband, I went to a camera store and purchased a new 80mm-300mm macro lens and a used flash. Since then I have been unstoppable.
I purchased a digital Canon Rebel XTi and I must say that I am completely in love with it! It has taken my pictures to a whole new level. Along with my Photoshop program, I have been able to create wonderful photos and memories.
Until recently I was happy to be a stay at home mom with a hobby on the side. My husband has been my greatest supporter and always pushing me to my limits. He brought up the idea of maybe doing this for a living. Taking photographs of friends, family, landscapes, anything my heart desires.
At first, I was skeptical. Sure, people told me they liked my work. But to sell it? After hosting a give away on a blog of mine, I was sold. The winner was genuinely ecstatic to receive an original print of mine, and even hung it on her wall!
Finally, I decided that when I grew up I wanted to be a photographer. As the months progress, I hope to open my own studio for portraits and photos for families, students, and anyone who wants their picture taken. I also hope to sell my own landscapes, nature shots, and still lifes to anyone that finds my work to be worth the money.

that’s great, i too am learning with photography, but simply by doing it, just like you perhaps. however, i still haven’t got the time to move my love to another level, that is to sell photos. i love sharing my photos in my blog though. i wish to see idaho also someday.
i wish you well, and i know you will do very well. i can actually feel the texture in your photos, like in the bark of the trees and stonewall.
Thank you for stopping by! I think learning by doing is better because it is less intimidating. I hope to take a few classes eventually but right now I’d be too scared to go into a class and be compared with other photographers, amateur or not.
